AMECA RIVER ADVENTURE |
||
An Eco Tour on the bay's largest river. |
||
Closed for the rainy season |
||
An exciting three part tour on the Ameca River and beach area of the estuary. The first part of the tour is a guided hike through the Mangrove Forest where you will learn about the ecology in this environment, including the plants, birds, reptiles, mammals and marine life and how they are all related. This is not a strenuous hike and is on relatively level ground, mostly sand. Next you will visit a traditional Mexican Fishing Village and see how the locals make their living. You will also have the opportunity to learn the art of hand casting a net for bait fish. |

The last part of the tour is the trip up the river in a six passenger Hover Craft (pilot and up to 5 passengers). This tour is a very personal, small group experience that the whole family will enjoy. |

| Riding of a Hovercraft is unlike anything else and is a truly unique experience. It is very smooth, but passengers should expect some wind, sand and spray. If you're bringing a camera, a case or a ziploc bag should be brought as well to protect it when spray and sand are about. Although there are seats for five passengers, this depends on the total weight and usually restricts the number to 4 adults plus a child. In the event of a larger group they will split it into the two Hover Crafts available. |

The easiest way is to take private transportation or taxis to Boca de Tomates. The fare from the cruise ship terminal is around $200 pesos, and it should take only about 20 minutes travel time. There is a row of restaurants along the beach, and we tell people to meet us in front of the Huachinango Feliz Restaurant. Once you get to the restaurant area, everyone knows where we are, and itís difficult to miss the bright yellow hovercraft parked there. Many find it more convenient (and less expensive) to take the bus back to town. Busses run regularly about every hour, and our guides can help guests with any questions or concerns about travel by bus. We can also help arrange for taxi service after the tour. Note: if taking a bus to Boca de Tomates, make certain it's one of the blue and white busses to Las Juntas, and it says "BOCA" on the front, not "Boca de Tomatlan". The bus takes a little longer, maybe 35 minutes, because it takes the scenic route through Las Juntas on the way to Boca de Tomates. |

We encourage our guests to use sun block and insect repellant. If they forget to bring these items, we do have them available.
The tour includes drinks and snacks. We invite our guests to visit the restaurants (cash only) before or after the tour. The food is very good and inexpensive. Reg. Questions E-Mail |
